The aim of the PhD course Material Engineering of Wood is to provide qualified personnel for scientific and research activities in the field of material sciences focusing on wood and wood-based materials, as well as in the field of experimental development of new wood-based materials, and in the product application of new knowledge of wood (buildings, structures, furniture, special wood products, etc.).

The aim of the PhD course is to provide scientific training of specialists in phytopathology of woody plants and mycology in terms of forest ecosystems and trees growing in non-forest environments.

The aim of the course is to expand the theoretical and practical knowledge of doctoral students in the field of forest management.

Forestry Ecology is a multidisciplinary natural field dealing with the systematic study of processes occurring in forestry ecosystems that influence the distribution and abundance of organisms, mutual interaction between ecosystem elements and their environment.

The PhD study programme in Silviculture is designed to expand the student's basic knowledge acquired within the Master´s degree course in professional forestry disciplines such as – genetics and cultivation of woody species, seed science, forest nurseries, formation and cultivation of forest stands, forest regeneration, formation and cultivation of woody vegetation or forests under specific conditions, intensive forest culture, agro-forestry etc.

The aim of the PhD course is to prepare PhD students for professional, scientific and creative work in the field of landscape biotechnology (ecosystem processes in the landscape, their controlled influence, self-regulation and stability of landscape components and their application in the design-technical sphere) and environmental studies in social relations (humane - anthropogenic use of the landscape, its optimization and development) and their joint transformation into landscape management and design (creation and protection of the landscape).
