The aim of this study program is to provide absolvent of bachelor study programs (preferably of mechanical engineering) with knowledge from the field of fine mechanics and optics. On these fields are based the modern scientific instruments and biomedical equipments, moreover these fields are considerably involved in creation and development of automated systems. The subjects of the study program are devoted to deepening the knowledge in physics, especially in photonics and particle optics. They also include courses devoted to construction, realization and application of high-tech devices used in the presented fields.
Graduate profile:
The graduates can prove themselves:
- at companies engaged in development, design and production of optical and measuring instruments and devices
- at research and development laboratories
- at biomedical positions
- at laboratories testing the products quality working in frame of enterprises or public utilities
- at facilities monitoring living environment
- at facilities, where automated data analysis and processing is required
Successful and scientifically oriented MSc. graduates in this specialization can continue their studies in the four-years doctoral study programe Physical and Materials Engineering and acquire the PhD degree.

After choosing your programme, apply for studying at BUT using the electronic application.
Please be sure that you know how the entrance exams will be and how much is the tuition fee.

After the documents are processed, you will receive a Letter of Acceptance and information about the first payment for your studies. Now it’s time to get ready for your semester in Brno.
