Molecular and Cell Biology
deadline
Let’s start at the beginning
Get to know the one that started it all – the molecule. A master’s degree in Molecular and Cell Biology provides you with expert knowledge of the basic building block of all other biology disciplines. In classrooms and labs, you will examine microorganisms, animal, plant, and human cells alike and learn to lead your own research.
Delve deep into immunology, histology, or human genetics, get hands-on experience during practical courses of animal physiology and embryology, learn all about the development of animal biology and cell death mechanisms. Explore it all.
Practical training
Experimental laboratory work and practical seminars are key components of the study. Early on, you will choose your topic of interest and the research project for the diploma thesis with the guidance of an experienced supervisor. The programme will teach you not only how to plan, perform, and analyse the results of your own research or experiment but also how to present your results to a professional scientific community.
Graduate profile: Microscopically precise
The excellent theoretical knowledge and practical skills you obtain during your studies will make you a priceless asset to any laboratory or research centre. Based on the focus, interest, and research project during your studies, you can choose whether
to apply for an institution oriented towards applied research, a hospital or a private clinic (especially one focused on molecular diagnostics or assisted reproduction),
or any other institution dealing with biological research.
And if you would like to advance in the field of academia, there are plenty of doctoral programmes in the field of life sciences and biology open at Masaryk.
Admission
To be accepted for a master’s degree in Molecular and Cell Biology at Masaryk University’s Faculty of Science, you need to pass the entrance interview during which your competence to study the programme, as well as your academic background, will be evaluated by a committee.
During the interview, you should prove basic orientation in the field of molecular and cell biology, including chemical components of cells, DNA and chromosome structure, cell communication, protein functioning, and so on.
