Ph.D. STUDENT EXPERIENCE IN BRNO
Hey there!! Myself Ramya, I’m a second year Ph.D. student here at CEITEC BUT. I am an Indian and received an Integrated Master of Science degree from Central University of Tamilnadu, India. I took a bit of a detour on my way to doctoral life by working at a Research & Development unit for a period of one year. I decided to take a leap of faith and put myself into a new environment for my Ph.D. journey. My hobbies are dancing, networking and sleeping. I’m excited to serve as one of your student ambassadors this year, because I initially looked up the scheme out of curiosity, but as I read the job description, I increasingly felt that this was something I wanted to be a part of. I have always enjoyed giving presentations and talking to strangers and these were qualities they were looking for in applicants. And I also thought it would be a great way to help young people who, like me at that age, were struggling to work out what they wanted to do with their life. I wanted to pass on the advice that helped me through the process.
When I am not serving my ambassador duties, you can find me working in the Advanced Materials Lab at CEITEC. Do not be afraid to reach out to me if you have questions about creating a meaningful University experience and would love to chat with incoming/fellow BUT students.
Living Brno:
This is my first time coming outside of my home country. I always wanted to study in Europe, as it is a place for exploring many beautiful places, cultures or meeting new students apart from the research field. I have a habit of helping students from my country, who want to study here or want to know questions about the Visa process and student life in Brno. My choice to study in Brno is purely based on the work culture here which gives freedom to implement your own ideas to work in a peaceful environment and to learn more about their old traditions. Brno is a lively place apart from the capital city of the Czech Republic. If you are an adventurous person who wants to explore new things in life, Brno won’t disappoint you. And the foremost important thing about Brno (the Czech Republic) is, it is the 4th safest country in the World.
